چکیده

This paper positions and explores the topic of image-based personality test. Instead of responding to text-based questions, the subjects will be provided a set of “choose-your-favorite-image” visual questions. With the image options of each question belonging to the same concept, the subjects’ personality traits are estimated by observing their preferences of images under several unique concepts. The solution to design such an image-based personality test consists of conceptquestion identification and image-option selection. We have presented a preliminary framework to regularize these two steps in this exploratory study. A demo version of the designed image-based personality test is available at http://www.visualbfi.org/. Subjective as well as objective evaluations have demonstrated the feasibility of image-based personality test in limited questions.

Psychometric Evaluation of Chinese-Language 44-Item and 10-Item Big Five Personality Inventories, Including Correlations with Chronotype, Mindfulness and Mind Wandering

The 44-item and 10-item Big Five Inventory (BFI) personality scales are widely used, but there is a lack of psychometric data for Chinese versions. Eight surveys (total N = 2,496, aged 18-82), assessed a Chinese-language BFI-44 and/or an independently translated Chinese-language BFI-10. Most BFI-44 items loaded strongly or predominantly on the expected dimension, and values of Cronbach's alpha ...

Short assessment of the Big Five: robust across survey methods except telephone interviewing

We examined measurement invariance and age-related robustness of a short 15-item Big Five Inventory (BFI-S) of personality dimensions, which is well suited for applications in large-scale multidisciplinary surveys. The BFI-S was assessed in three different interviewing conditions: computer-assisted or paper-assisted face-to-face interviewing, computer-assisted telephone interviewing, and a self...

PERSONALITY PROCESSES AND INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES The Next Big Five Inventory (BFI-2): Developing and Assessing a Hierarchical Model With 15 Facets to Enhance Bandwidth, Fidelity, and Predictive Power

Three studies were conducted to develop and validate the Big Five Inventory-2 (BFI-2), a major revision of the Big Five Inventory (BFI). Study 1 specified a hierarchical model of personality structure with 15 facet traits nested within the Big Five domains, and developed a preliminary item pool to measure this structure. Study 2 used conceptual and empirical criteria to construct the BFI-2 doma...

Selecting items for Big Five questionnaires: At what sample size do factor loadings stabilize?

Researchers often use exploratory factor analysis (EFA) to develop and refine questionnaires assessing the Big Five personality traits. We use sequential sampling and bootstrapping to determine the number of participants needed to yield stable loading patterns for the Big Five Inventory (BFI) and the International Personality Item Pool Big Five measure (IPIP). Overall 21,350 participants (BFI =...
